Our Services
Information and Referrals: Information and referrals can be provided to other agencies who may be in a position to assist the senior in need. Outreach workers provide information, assist with completion of applications for pensions/grants/services/other financial benefits, provide ongoing support and counselling, and ensure follow up and monitoring occur.
Support Groups: Support groups are facilitated by outreach workers to assist seniors and caregivers.
Caregiver Support Group: Held bi-monthly, they are an opportunity for caregivers to get together, informally, to support each other with a focus on self-care.
When: 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Where: Bowness Seniors' Centre - 6422 35 Ave. NW
Advocacy: Outreach workers will work to actively support our clients when they face difficulties. We will act as an advocate when appropriate to assist and support our clients with government, other agencies, families and friends.
Crisis Intervention: Our provision of crisis intervention may include:
- Provision of assistance and support by outreach workers, should a client become involved in a legal situation involving the court system, involving other services when possible or appropriate.
- Ensuring individuals, particularly those who are socially isolated, receive appropriate medical or emergency medical intervention following an accident or sudden illness; seniors are driven to an emergency clinic, or an ambulance is called, whichever is most appropriate.
- Accessing whichever resources we can to assist individuals who are in a financial crisis.
Workshops: We provide workshops on a variety of topics.
